Article summary

Once your website is live, you will be able to add Afterpay to allow clients to purchase any products you have listed for sale (not bookings). This guide will detail how Afterpay works on BookingTimes, and how to set it up.

How Afterpay works on BookingTimes

You as the business do not need an Afterpay account. It’s up to the client to have an approved Afterpay account, and if they do they simply use it as they would a credit card.

Afterpay can be used on the Shopping Cart Checkout page by the client to pay for purchases. Clients will be given the opportunity to select Afterpay as a payment option, and will be taken to the Afterpay transaction portal.

Important

Afterpay can only be used to pay for the full price of store purchases/products.  i.e. Packages, gift vouchers and physical products.  Partial payments cannot be made.

Afterpay cannot be used to pay for bookings. If this is desired, please create a product to capture the service instead. Please refer to the Creating a prepaid voucher or package article for more details.

You as an admin cannot create a Sale and then invoice the client if they wish to pay with Afterpay. The client must create the Web Sale themselves by going to your Packages/Products page and selecting what they wish to purchase. Only then will they be able to use Afterpay.

Setting up Afterpay on your website

Once your website is live and you have enabled online payments, you simply need to check the Afterpay option in your business details. There is no other setup required.

Steps

  1. Navigate to Setup > System Settings > Business Detail

Afterpay Surcharge

Afterpay transactions cost 8% of the value of the transaction, plus 30 cents. Some businesses add an Afterpay surcharge for Afterpay-only transactions to cover this cost, while other businesses include this in their standard pricing.

  1. Click Save

  2. Any Afterpay sales will appear as follows to show this payment type and the surcharge amount charged

Handling refunds with Afterpay

Refunds are handled exactly the same as credit card refunds to ensure full traceability. Please refer to the Refunding a product sale article for more details.
